Took that in the arcade where I had a coffee while waiting for my Uncle Roy’s funeral to start. As I noted on Facebook: “In Sutherland in an arcade having a coffee. My father once had an office upstairs here. I have been exploring “sacred sites” back to 1943.”
The barber shop in the early 60s was run by a Maltese guy called Sam. Way earlier though the barber that had charge of my blonde locks – yes they were – back in the late 1940s through to the mid 1950s was Russ Luxford. His shop was on the main street – all leather razor strop and Bay Rum, not to mention Brylcreem.
