Monro Park

Not a lot looks the same as it did forty or fifty years ago, but this immediate area hasn’t changed all that much.

The area around North Cronulla, however, must be a textbook example of greed and overdevelopment! Real Estate heaven – or hell?

Fittingly, I suppose, C J Monro after whom the park is named, was a Real Estate agent and NSW Member of Parliament from 1932 to 1953. He was also President of Sutherland Shire but I am not sure how often or when, and my web searching hasn’t yet answered the question.

Short History of The Shire.

A local Dharawal Elder who may be related to my father’s mother. My connection with the original owners of The Shire.
