The café’s reputation has fluctuated over the years, "If your thing is being served by tattooed and dreadlocked ferals with attitude, then you’ll love this place" reports one blog site. But like a cranky aunt who can bake a fine ANZAC, locals accept that the frequently cold shoulder with their café latte is worth it when the cakes are sourced from eight different pastry chefs and the gelato gives Gelatissimo a run for its money (try the Belgian chocolate). Even the staff can’t argue with that.
