Mystery protest

There are near the Devonshire Street entrance to Central Station busts – not all that good either, I’m afraid – of various heroes of the Latin American communities. I have noticed that every now and again a head gets knocked off, but usually reappears fairly quickly.

Just after Anzac Day I say that the Uraguayan national hero José Gervasio Artigas Arnal (June 19, 1764 – September 23, 1850) had disappeared but had been replaced by a somewhat altered Aussie Digger:

Obviously a comment about war.

  1. This afternoon it has disappeared.
